Alice
Osipowitz has been a resident of Aberdeen for over 20
years where she has lived with her husband and daughter. Alice
chose to run as a member of the Green Party to represent
residents with more choices and independent political
views.
Alice has 30 years of experience as a municipal employee and currently
serves as the Director of Parks & Recreation for the Township
of Franklin in Somerset County. Her Department prides itself
in providing residents with a wide variety of quality services some
of which have been recognized on both the state and national levels
for excellence in delinquency prevention, intergenerational programming,
therapeutic recreation services and cultural diversity programming. Alice
has provided leadership on numerous committees including: the Open
Space Committee; the Advisory Senior Citizens Committee; the Advisory
Recreation Council; the Youth Services Commission; the Municipal
Alliance for the Prevention of Substance Abuse; and the Annual Martin
Luther King Breakfast Committee. Alice has championed the
need for community prevention services for at-risk youth and was
recognized for Professional Service in 2003 by the Somerset County
Youth Services Commission. Alice is also responsible for the management
of over 100 acres of developed parkland, park design and acquisition. Her
position has involved networking with a wide variety of agencies,
businesses and other municipal departments for the successful delivery
of community services.
Locally, Alice has volunteered as a girl’s basketball coach
at St. Benedicts Elementary School and as a softball coach with
the Matawan/Aberdeen Youth Athletic Association.
Alice hopes to make a difference in Aberdeen by encouraging community
involvement in government and being responsive to community needs;
looking for efficiencies that can be made at the municipal, school
and county levels to reduce taxes; and making sure that eminent
domain abuses do not impact local residents.
